How to Report an Incident of Sexual Abuse of a Minor

If you or someone you know has been a victim of child sexual abuse by a person working for the Roman Catholic Church in the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana (such as a priest, deacon, sister, brother, lay officer, lay employee, lay volunteer, etc.) you are requested to report the incident in the following manner:

     1) Call the Office of the Vicar General (800-942-2397) or the Office of Assistance Ministry (800-533-7018) for the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana.

     2) Compose in writing a detailed description of the facts/incidents of the abuse and send it as soon as possible to: Mr. Max Layden, 712 Bank One Building, Lafayette, IN 47901. That information will then be communicated by us to the Child Protective Services and/or the appropriate civil law agencies as required by civil law.

     3) Thereafter, an investigation will be undertaken by or on behalf of the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana.

You should also be aware of your right to make a report to the Child Protective Services in your local area and/or the appropriate law enforcement agencies.
