My years as Bishop have taught me that people are extremely generous when they know their generosity will make a difference. The Diocese is solvent but operates on a tight budget. This limits the Church’s ability to achieve optimum impact in crucial areas.

I have asked the Pastoral Office for Stewardship and Development, as well as The Catholic Foundation of Northcentral Indiana, Inc., to focus Planned Giving on the following areas:

• Funds needed to enhance the recruitment and formation of men for the priesthood for our Local Church –

• Funds needed to expand the Permanent Diaconate Program –

• Assistance for Adult & Youth Religious Education & Formation –

• Assistance to parishes struggling to provide ministry to the ever increasing number of Hispanic Catholics in our area –

• Assistance for Marriages and Culture of Life –

• Priest Pension Fund –

• Ability to respond to extra-ordinary Diocesan ministries and needs –

• Assistance for Parishes and Schools –

It is my hope you will embrace these efforts and dreams or one of them. Your leadership in these areas, and other interests you may have, can make a huge difference in the quality of ministry the Catholics of Northcentral Indiana will receive in the future. The needs are many, the resources are limited. Planned Giving can change that.
